The W115 Mercedes-Benz diesel is arguably the most durable mass production automobile ever made. This particular vehicle is exceptionally well-preserved.
Description: Medium Red exterior (MB paint code 516) with Black MB-Tex interior. 4-Cylinder, 2.4 liter, fuel-injected, naturally aspirated diesel, single overhead cam, 4-speed automatic transmission, power assisted 4-wheel disc brakes, 4-wheel independent suspension, a/c and heat automatic climate control, central locking, power steering, original Becker Europa AM/FM stereo, electrically heated rear windshield, quartz chronometer, 2-way adjustable front seats, 14” steel wheels with matching Medium Red hubcaps, rear center folding arm rest, front center cargo tray, halogen head lamps, 2-speed windshield wiper with manual foot mist control, nylon loop carpet, driver accessible rear dome light switch, optional right and left side controlled parking light illumination, full spare and tool kit, Owner's Manual, along with other Mercedes-Benz books and literature.
Exterior Condition: Medium Red paint is absolutely stunning with a deep luster and shine. The paint is mostly original with a few minor blemishes, but nothing to be ashamed of for a 40-year-old car. The overall condition is excellent. The polished anodized aluminum trim and stainless steel bumper caps are in excellent shape. The factory 14" steel rims and lug nuts are in excellent original condition. The matching stainless steel hubcaps were recently polished and painted. Top of the line Michelin 195/70/R14 tires have less than 3,000 miles of use. The trunk includes the original spare, jack and tool kit. The era-correct pinstripe is flawless. The door seals, trunk seal, glass seals, rubber weather-stripping, etc., are all in great shape and still soft and pliable. The front windshield and seal have been replaced due to some light pitting over the years. Chrome grill is in excellent shape. The headlamp bezels, tail lights and side markers are all in very good shape. All emblems are bright and shiny. Original factory stickers and plates on door jam and engine compartment are in excellent condition.
Interior Condition: The interior of this sedan is stunning. The Black MB-Tex has all new horse hair and foam padding. There are no rips, tears or fading. The original loop carpet is simply fantastic and shows no wear at all. It is without any stains, fading or unraveling. The headliner is excellent. The door panels and map pockets are all crack and scuff-free. The instrument cluster is bright and flawless, without any faded needles or aging. The accessory switches, knobs, buttons, turn signal lever, etc. are in excellent condition without any faded symbols, and they are all in proper working order.
Mechanical Condition: It starts, runs, drives and handles fantastic. It has been exceptionally maintained. It's durable and fuel efficient 2.4 liter, 4-cylinder diesel motor is smooth and strong, and it gets an average of 30 MPG. Cold starts are instant, which is a validation to its low miles. The motor, chassis and engine compartment are clean and dry. There are no leaks of any kind. The transmission shifts sure, timely and proper. Independent suspension is solid and comfortable. Recently the car received a major 30K service. Other recent maintenance includes but is not limited to -- all new exhaust from the manifold back, new front and rear brake pads, valve adjustment, new Bilstein shocks, new fuel filters, new belts, new hoses, new battery, new gearshift bushings, new subframe mounts, new steering shock, new steering coupling, and R&R steering gearbox. All fluids were also recently changed. There are currently no pending maintenance issues.
Accessories Condition: Central locking works fast and excellent. Heater/defroster work excellent, and blow heat and air from the proper vents respectively. Factory air conditioning works like new and blows ice cold. Becker Europa AM/FM Stereo works excellent, along with manual antenna. Instrument cluster gauges all work excellent, including: clock, odometer, tripometer, rheostat illumination switch, oil pressure gauge, temperature gauge, fuel gauge, etc. Seats adjust smooth and proper. Glove box compartment opens/closes/locks properly. One key fits front doors, trunk, and glove compartment. Headlights work excellent, along with high beams, brake lights, parking lights (side markers), reverse lights, both dome lights, turn signals, trunk light, license plate lights, glove compartment light, accessory switch illumination light, instrument cluster lights, etc. Also have all four original keys (master, spare, valet, and Hirschmann manual antennae key)
